Every time I go to the dentist, it requires me to take time off work. Is there a way to get all the work done at once in order to make my dentistry more affordable. Taking multiple days off work is costing me a fortune. I’m not a salaried employee. I get paid hourly. If I’m not there, I have no paycheck.
The expression “time is money” has never been more true than when you get paid by the hour. How much work a dentist is willing to do one appointment varies from dentist to dentist. You will likely find the dentists who are willing to do more work per session will be sedation dentists.
Some use nitrous oxide. Others will use oral conscious sedation. Either will allow you to get more work done at each appointment. This will certainly reduce the number of days you have to take off from work to get your dental work done. However, you should be aware not many dental plans cover sedation so you may have to pay for that part out of pocket.
One thing which does help is talking to your dental office about your financial situation. There are ways to help with affordable dental care such as payment plans.
Prevention Make Dental Care More Affordable
Probably the best thing you can do for yourself is make certain you are keeping up with your checkups and cleanings. Prevention is the least expensive part of dental care and combined with good oral hygiene at home will save you a fortune in preventable treatments.
Here’s what I mean by that. Good care can prevent a lot of cavities. But, even if you get a cavity, catching it early is a lot less time consuming and costs less to fill than if you waited and needed a large filling or worse, a root canal treatment and dental crown.
Waiting until it is that serious had hundreds of dollars to the care. Then, if you wait until your tooth cannot be saved and you have to get an extraction, you then will need to replace that tooth, which can add thousands of dollars to the cost of your care.
I hope this helps. This blog is brought to you by the Decatur, AL Dentists of Drs. Drake and Wallace.
