We Cater to Cowards
If this describes you, not to worry—Drs. Drake and Wallace have worked with plenty of anxious patients. We understand that the first step is making you comfortable to visit the dentist. We are confident that after your visit, you will understand why we say we cater to cowards.
For some people, fear of the dentist is a real concern. We also know that sometimes that fear has kept you away longer than it should. This only raises your anxiety, fearing that you may need more extensive dental work. Or, you are concerned that you will be scolded for not keeping up with the recommended bi-annual checkups.
Dr. Wallace, known for her gentle touch, and Dr. Drake, known for his pleasant chairside manner, take the time to explain what they will be doing to help put you at ease. They will never make you feel poorly for missed dental work. Instead they, along with their team, will work with you to get you back on track—without judgement.
Nitrous Oxide
If you are still feeling anxious, we can help you relax while having your dental work done by offering nitrous oxide. Nitrous oxide is a gas to help sedate you. We will place a nasal mask and administer the nitrous oxide so you will be relaxed and ready for your dental procedure.
Furthermore, we can easily tweak the nitrous oxide dose to get you to your comfortable level of relaxation. Dr. Drake or Dr. Wallace will continually check with you during administration to ensure you stay comfortable.
An additional benefit of nitrous oxide is that it can enhance the effects of the local anesthetic used for numbing, making it more effective. Removing the fear of the needle can go a long way in relaxing you. Finally, an important benefit of nitrous oxide is that it wears off almost immediately. This allows you to resume your daily plans, including driving yourself home.
