I know this is going to sound weird but I was wondering if there was a way to match your teeth to something specific through teeth whitening. For instance, what if I wanted to match my teeth to something specific, like my eyeballs?

Dear Alice,
That is a fascinating question that I was not expecting. Thank you! It’s sort of made my day. I’ve given this some thought. While teeth whitening can get your teeth very, very white there are some limitations that you will have little control over. If you ever want to match your teeth to something specific, your best option is to do something like porcelain veneers. This can be made to match any color specifically. Whitening can be a bit unpredictable.
This is why when if someone can only get six porcelain veneers we encourage them to whiten their teeth first. Most smiles are eight to ten teeth wide. Because of that, we encourage them to whiten their teeth first so that the natural teeth can blend in with the porcelain veneers. The veneers can be made to match whatever level of whiteness you are happy with.
Bear in mind that you want an expert cosmetic dentist to do this for you. It requires post-doctoral training on the part of the dentist as well as some artistry, which comes with practice for the dentist to get it right. You’ll also want to make sure that they’ll agree to do the veneers with a temporary try-in paste. This way you get to look at them and if you don’t like them, he or she needs to agree to send them back to the lab to make changes until you are happy with them. You don’t want to spend a ton of money on a smile makeover you don’t love.
