I need some advice. I had dental implants placed at Clear Choice Implant Centers and the procedure destroyed my face. My skin is hanging because my cheeks are hollowed out. I’ve also noticed the my upper lip is hanging, almost like a permanent frown. Also, the area below my eyes are missing some bone. They won’t answer my questions about what happened to my face. I don’t know what to do. This was a pretty instant change in my appearance from right after the surgery. What do you recommend?
Olivia
Dear Olivia,
I am so sorry that this happened to you. All-on-four is the go-to procedure with Clear Choice. The good thing about this procedure is that it is helpful for people who’ve lost some bone structure, but don’t want to do any bone grafting. Dental implants are designed to prevent facial collapse. However, based on your description, it sounds like they caused it.
Dental care has a huge impact on our facial structure. I feel like you need to get this redone and have the bone built back up properly. Your cheeks can be more supported by the widening the bases of the upper and lowers. Building them up vertically supports the face and will prevent the sagging. The area of your eye probably means that they were too aggressive in shaving away the maxillary bone in that area.
You are going to have to get tough here and tell them that you want a refund. If they don’t comply, threaten them with a lawsuit. When Clear Choice has threatened with a lawsuit, they have been known to give refunds. Based on what you described of your facial structure, it sounds like you have a good case.
Unfortunately, this does mean you will have to have bone grafting done now. After that, you can decide if you want another all on four or if you want to go with the more traditional implant supported dentures.
